NLab

The nLab is a wiki for research-level notes, expositions and collaborative work, including original research, in mathematics, physics, and philosophy, with a focus on methods from category theory and homotopy theory. The nLab espouses the "n-categorical point of view" that category theory and particularly higher category theory provide a useful unifying viewpoint for mathematics, physics and philosophy.
Charles Wells (mathematician)
Charles Wells was an American mathematician known for his fundamental contributions to category theory. He was Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Case Western Reserve University
Zero degrees of freedom
In statistics, the non-central chi-squared distribution with zero degrees of freedom can be used in testing the null hypothesis that a sample is from a uniform distribution on the interval (0, 1). This distribution was introduced by Andrew F. Siegel
Glasser's master theorem
In integral calculus, Glasser's master theorem explains how a certain broad class of substitutions can simplify certain integrals over the whole interval from to It is applicable in cases where the integrals must be construed as Cauchy principal values
Minimum chi-square estimation
In statistics, minimum variance to be chi-square estimation is a method of estimation of unobserved quantities based on observed data
Stirling transform
In combinatorial mathematics, the Stirling transform of a sequence { an : n = 1, 2, 3, ... } of numbers is the sequence { bn : n = 1, 2, 3, ... } given
Tikhonov's theorem (dynamical systems)
In applied mathematics, Tikhonov's theorem on dynamical systems is a result on stability of solutions of systems of differential equations. It has applications to chemical kinetics. The theorem is named after Andrey Nikolayevich Tikhonov
Aristarchus's inequality
Aristarchus's inequality is a law of trigonometry which states that if α and β are acute angles and β < α
Triangular coordinates
The term triangular coordinates may refer to any of at least three related systems of coordinates in the Euclidean plane:a special case of barycentric coordinates for a triangle, in which case it is known as a ternary plot or areal coordinates, among
Hermite's cotangent identity
In mathematics, Hermite's cotangent identity is a trigonometric identity discovered by Charles Hermite. Suppose a1, ..., an are complex numbers, no two of which differ by an integer multiple of π
Della Dumbaugh
Della Jeanne Dumbaugh is an American mathematician and historian of mathematics, focusing on the history of algebra and number theory. She is a professor of mathematics at the University of Richmond, and the editor-in-chief of The American Mathematical
